IUI procedure details and indications.
IUI (Intrauterine Insemination) is a procedure where the husband's semen is collected, specially processed, and injected into the uterus through a thin tube timed with the woman's ovulation.
In natural conception, sperm passes through the vagina and cervix to meet the ovulated egg in the fallopian tube,
but IUI can bypass the process of sperm passing through the vagina and cervix.
It may be performed following the natural ovulation cycle, or after administering ovulation-inducing medication or injections for smoother ovulation.
When natural conception through intercourse during ovulation has failed
When there are congenital abnormalities of the cervix
When cervical mucus quantity or quality makes it difficult for sperm survival due to inflammation
When natural conception is difficult due to severe retroversion or anteversion of the uterus
When intravaginal ejaculation is difficult due to sexual dysfunction
When sperm condition does not deviate significantly from normal range
