HPV vaccination for cervical cancer prevention.
Cervical cancer develops in the cervix, the lower part of the uterus. It is closely related to HPV (Human Papillomavirus) infection, and may have no symptoms in early stages, making regular screening important.

Changes in cervical cells can be categorized by stages based on test results,
and regular screening to confirm current status is important.

No abnormalities detected in cervical cells. Regular cervical cytology tests are important to confirm current status.

Mild cellular changes detected. Follow-up decisions are based on age, HPV status, and test results.

Moderate cellular changes detected. Additional tests or treatment may be considered based on the extent of the lesion and individual condition.

High-grade cervical cell changes detected. Treatment options are determined based on test results.

Abnormal cells have invaded beyond the basement membrane. Required tests and treatments may vary depending on staging and lesion extent.
※ Not all cervical cell changes progress in the above order. Follow-up observation or additional testing/treatment may be considered based on test results and lesion severity.
HPV vaccines are designed to prevent infection by major HPV types associated with cervical cancer.
A 9-valent HPV vaccine targeting HPV types 6, 11, 16, 18, 31, 33, 45, 52, and 58.
A 2-valent HPV vaccine targeting high-risk HPV types 16 and 18, closely associated with cervical cancer.
※ The number and interval of HPV vaccinations may vary based on age at first dose, vaccine type, and vaccination history. Regular cervical cancer screening is still needed after vaccination.
A cervical cytology test is primarily performed. Depending on results or individual condition, HPV testing, colposcopy, or biopsy may also be considered.
Early-stage cervical cancer may have no noticeable symptoms, so regular screening is important even without symptoms.
The national cancer screening program provides cervical cytology tests every 2 years for women aged 20 and older. Screening timing may vary based on past results and individual risk factors.
