Research Ethics Guidelines

In carrying out any work related to the creation of embryos, researchers shall act in accordance with the ethical regulations based on the Bioethics and Safety Act.
In carrying out any work related to the creation of embryos, researchers shall not engage in work that violates the dignity and value of human life or that may give rise to ethical controversy.

In carrying out any work related to the creation of embryos, researchers shall strictly observe the requirements on embryo creation set out in Article 23 of the Bioethics and Safety Act.
① No one shall create an embryo for any purpose other than pregnancy.
② No one shall engage in any of the following acts when creating an embryo.
- Selecting eggs and sperm for fertilization for the purpose of choosing a particular sex
- Fertilizing with the eggs or sperm of a deceased person
- Fertilizing with the eggs or sperm of a minor, except where a married minor does so in order to have a child.
③ No one shall provide or use sperm or eggs, or induce or arrange such provision or use, in return for money, property interests or any other consideration.
In carrying out any work related to the creation of embryos, researchers shall be aware of the harm that may come to subjects in vulnerable circumstances, and shall prevent it and protect the rights and safety of the subjects.
Researchers shall not disclose to others any information about subjects obtained in the course of work related to the creation of embryos, except as permitted by law.
Researchers shall record accurately and completely all records arising in the course of work related to the creation of embryos.
In carrying out any work related to the creation of embryos, researchers shall strive to avoid errors and, if a serious error occurs, shall stop immediately and report it to the head of the institution.
Researchers shall not use eggs, sperm or embryos obtained in the course of work related to the creation of embryos for research or for personal profit without the consent of the subject.
